@1z0b31 @1mentat @Lightstep Any good reading on Spans vs Tags vs logKV? What are the semantics?

@1z0b31 @1mentat @Lightstep My simple test did work, but this has some interesting techniques I'm going to study more!

@1mentat @Lightstep Well, moving it to an isolated binary worked, so next is figuring out why it did not work in place. Thanks. https://t.co/RYTo1SkcmA

@1mentat @Lightstep Really autocorrect? “main.go”

@1mentat @Lightstep I think I need to move my trace setup into a testing mcD and try it in isolation then I can be clearer

@1mentat @Lightstep 408, 400 http errs. Have tried with lightstep.Endpoint{} and the dev server option, neither connects. :(

@monkchips @pivotal @deskbeers @BTGroup Oh not necessarily, that's just my opinion (ha). I should probably watch the video before opining next time. I think it was just an allergic reaction to the name :)

@monkchips @pivotal @deskbeers @BTGroup I confess to kinda being over the “opinionated software” movement, see also “convention over configuration”. These products assume that your working environment is able to accommodate the <product>-way of doing things.

That’s not always the case, especially in enterprises.

is there a "go mod nuke <module and everyone it ever knew>" command, cause the @lightstep module install is not working right (go 1.12.6, using go.mod) and now my go install is bork all to heck

RT @josephfcox: someone should make a computer that's good

@agiletortoise hi greg!

@jungshadow Jared!! Long time! Ofc it wasn’t do cker it was me being shite at computer... this time glares at docker-compose

probably to honest for twitter 😂

Do I know anyone willing to hold a docker newb's hand? (I need help but emotional support is nice too) >_< afraid everyone's going to laugh at me

Because I'm a nerd this was triggered by a programming situation, but I've absolutely experienced it in social situations

@bitprophet gasp 🙀😻

1) write humble brag 2) replace humble brag with <humble brag deleted> 3) delete tweet 4) don't mention it at all (I failed #4)

Sure I'm not the first, but just thought of the the term "pattern mapping" vs "pattern matching".

"Pattern mapping" is when you're entering a new environment and trying to map all the patterns of working you know to the new context/structure.

Produces much stress/anxiety

@chrismessina @arxpoetica @Rich_Harris @johnmccrea @daveman692 @jsmarr @willnorris @jasnell @robdolin @apparentlymart @ciberch @dustyweb @MastodonProject @dustyweb et al have done a lot of work on specs and pilot implementations, but there are many implementations out there covering many genres of content

@chrismessina @arxpoetica @Rich_Harris @johnmccrea @daveman692 @jsmarr @willnorris @jasnell @robdolin @apparentlymart @ciberch ActivityPub is descended from https://t.co/gya0HpzyWL but so much more work has gone into it and the federated social web thanks to @dustyweb and their collaborators.

@MastodonProject is currently the most famous implementer, but far far far from the only.
