I know things are sort of broken on this site right now - please be patient. I've reduced the home page to one post, and I'm trying to figure out why its taking minutes for the home page to load.

BigMarv's How I Did That | Tivo's 30 Second Skip Easter Egg
BigMarv's How I Did That: Tivo's 30 Second Skip Easter Egg: >"As it turns out, a 30 second skip is buried within the programming of the TiVo device and can be brought to the surface using an Easter Egg. After enabling the 30 second skip feature, The skip-to-hash button becomes a 30 second skip button. Once you begin using this feature, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it."
Turn that thing off!
NYT: With Airpower and Armor, Troops Enter Rebel-Held City: >"Amid the blasts and roar of the battle, loudspeakers at mosques throughout the city were blaring, "Prepare for jihad!" and "God is great!". American commanders appeared to avoid striking the mosques."
WordPress Themes
Ryan Boren, |WordPress| developer extraorinaire, posted an article describing how themes are contructed for the upcoming release of WordPress 1.3. Will be useful sometime next summer when I find time to upgrade. :(
Caching improvements
I've been seeing some performance losses on this site recently, between the search engines and the spambots, and more load on the T1 I'm behind, so (on Seth's excellent suggestion) I hacked |WordPress| to never send no-cache headers (which it was sending on requests of every kind). You should see a bit more zippiness from the site now.
TiVoCasting?
I'm listening to the BloggerCon podcasting session from ITConversations, and they're talking about devices that can be used to listen to podcasts.
Busy
Doing some work tonight, hacking on The Project and listening to a bootleg of a live R.E.M. concert from 1989. "I guess it's just a gesture..."
nullcouple
My old buddy Nate (nullgel) has gone and gotten himself married!!! OMG OMG! As I IMed him...
Early Results!
On a bright note, it looks like my brother Sean and his wife Amy may get some early results, even if the rest of the nation won't. New family member Jesse Ethan Ivy looks like he's going to make an early appearance. Here's hoping for an easy and quick delivery, and safety for mom and child!
G.O.P. Can Challenge Voters at Ohio Polls?
NY Times: G.O.P. Can Challenge Voters at Ohio Polls, Court Rules. In a day of see-sawing court rulings, a federal appeals court ruled early today that the Republican Party could place thousands of people inside polling places to challenge the eligibility of voters, a blow to Democrats who had argued that those challengers would intimidate minority voters.> So it comes down, again, to judges who were appointed by Republicans. This is not a good start to Election Day.
ADS, Inc: We Do Docs
Adoption Document Specialists (or Cheri as we know her :-) ) got a new (if temporary) website up! And they have a link to |Jodi|'s weblog at the bottom of their references page! Cool! We would heartily recommend Cheri and ADS to anyone considering adopting from Ukraine.
Adoption week 12
|Jodi| is still blogging our adoption process, and she's turning into quite the blogger!! I know I'm biased, but Jodi is quite a good writer, and she's finding her "blog voice" over time. You go girl!
TiVo Trick: Stream internet radio to your entertainment system?
Working from home today, and listening to some nice european trance in the background... through my entertainment system. How?
Workin' from Stonegrounds
Hi, I'm working from the Stonegrounds coffee shop around the corner from my house. Free wireless. Macintosh. Decaf mocha latte. Heaven.
