I feel bad for the models in stock photos that go viral; billions of copies of the photos they were in and I suspect they never see a dime. https://t.co/fw3mwQJTlB

@eaton I feel like the ActivityStreams folks are doing a lot of work around this, though it's a less "rich" content than the CMS and publishing system folks deal with, since AS is so focused on defining generalized models. But it's an interesting branch of the discipline.
@eaton Man, preach. We've been dealing with this since the 90s when desktop publishing started moving content to the network, and multi-distribution became an everyday occurrence. Such hard, but important, work.
@davewiner Appreciate the new emails BTW - and I like the links at the bottom. Thanks for 20+ years Dave
@mattknight1986 @Astropartigirl Or its "anyone in the same area", because we're even too lazy to focus our attention on one person. We're infants, wailing to the world to pay attention.
@mattknight1986 @Astropartigirl Even if you pretend the centuries of slvaery and genocide and stick to the last 20 years, "mass shootings" are the exclusive domain of entitled, angry white men. Why? because it's never "that guy who insulted me" who should pay, it's "everyone that looks like him"
@mattknight1986 @Astropartigirl "Did anyone expect whites to prostrate themselves before the world"
They do. We whites are the only ones who can't figure out why they expect it, because of systemic privilege and racism.

@ericholscher Perhaps I don’t maintain enough terrible and old code (though I do some) but I have found the basics of converting to be a pleasure. (Dict.items() and strings/bytes being the common issues)
Plus the relief and ridding myself of deprecation warnings...
