Twitterprise Permission-based Messaging Platform

Some have been thinking about how Twitter will become financially viable. This vision is very believable, with Tweets coming from the flight you're tracking, your favorite team's current game, etc. David Chartier of Download Squad offers up some ideas, including a couple from Evan Williams of Obvious Corp/Twitter [via].

Christophe Ducamp posted about a recommendation for a French variation on POSH: CHIC, or'Code HTML Intrinsèquement Classe', which I think roughly translates to "Instrinsically Classy HTML Code". (Idea from Stéphane Gigandet) Sounds good to me!

Monkinetic Widgets SVN

My two recent widgets, hCard About Box and On This Day In..., are now in the public SVN. Have at it.

Are you POSH?

Wordpress Widget: On This Day In...

There have been a few implementations of this for Wordpress before, but the versions I found were either for old versions of Wordress or the sites were down, so I implemented it again for myself as a widget, and I'm releasing it under the GPL and MIT licenses. Take your pick.

What's with the skinny?

No, my site is not fixed width and skinny because I could not bear to once again navigate the misted, tortured, dragon-infested waters of flexible web layouts. No, it's because I can reach 95% of my audience with a site that is 768px wide. Yeah.

Coda: Great tune, but I gotta leave early

>In music notation, the coda symbol is used as a navigation marker ... and is used where the exit from a repeated section is within that section rather than at the end. Wikipedia - Coda (Music)

Citizen Advocate

>can Chris Messina stop moving? i swear, he's everywhere: F, POSH, co-working, Flock, Carbon Offsetting? Chris Messina: "Citizen Advocate" - via twitter

Arizona Adoptive Families camping trip

This weekend, Jodi and Adelina and I went camping with a group of families from Arizona Adoptive Families, the physical manifestation of a Yahoo group started 4 years ago as a social/support network for, as you can guess, adoptive families in Arizona.

The Importance Of Being POSH

Tantek explains more about being POSH.

New Work: Ivy Architectural Innovations

Newly launched: Ivy Architectural Innovations, a website for a small but creative architectural firm (suspiciously run by some guy also with the last name of Ivy) in Virginia Beach, VA.

Welcome Christian Boston!

After 30 frikkin hours, Dustin and Mary welcome litle Christian David into the world! Thankfully, they were able to avoid a second C-Section. Congrats guys! W0000!

The Relative Value of Open Source to Open Services

Chris Messina posted an exploration of the whole open source v. open services conversation. I'm going to respond here in the near future, but wanted to point to it while it's fresh in my mind.

hCard About Box Wordpress Widget

The hCard Wordpress widget now it's own page. GPL and MIT licensed. Enjoy.

Is your blog/site/presentation POSH?

POSH is a new acronym/idea sprung from the foreheads of the idle chatterers (just kidding, guys!) The idea is to give the idea of semantic (suitably meaningful in the linguistic sense) HTML an easy-to-remember handle.

monkinetic v. 9.0 goes live!

Wow, after a week of marathon designing and coding, I finally got the new design of this site up! Yay me!

Wordpress Widget: hCard 'About Box'

As part of my redesign of this site, I've created a Wordpress widget that adds a microformatted hcard "about box". Once the redesign is live I'll be releasing it as an open-source download.

NAKED!

Ok, I missed CSS Naked Day, but I'm redesigning this site, so I thought it would be good to zero-out the stylesheet for a few days to cleanse the palate, as it were. Here's a preview of what's coming:

Sound And Fury: A Cross Cultural Crisis

(This is the content of a short reaction paper for SLG 102, the sign language class Jodi and I are taking at Chandler-Gilbert Community College).

OpenID-enabled

At Chris Messina's request, I just installed and enabled the WP-OpenID+ plugin for this site. So if you want to comment, give it a shot.
