Steve caught on film for Numa Dance video? You decide...

Seth seems to think that the first "flash photo" in this (strange, oddly compelling) flash movie looks like me! Was I caught unawares and given interet fame? :-) You decide:

The Closest I Can Get...

[9:18:00 AM] Kreg Steppe: Between the time I talked to you last, and now, I re-installed linux on my laptop.
[9:18:18 AM] Steve Ivy: ha!
[9:18:20 AM] Steve Ivy: nicely done
[9:18:46 AM] Kreg Steppe: I love my mac, and this is the closest that I can get to it without having it.

RSS is Killing Web Design

Ok, now that I've gotten the hysterical hyperbole out of the way, this is what I mean: reading well-designed web sites in an RSS read does nothing to stimulate my creative juices. I realized this today after opening a post from StopDesign in Firefox and going "sooooo beautiful! I should look at Doug's site more often!" It was then that I realized that reading all my sites in |NetNewsWire|, efficient as it is, is robbing me of the creative kick in the pants I get from browsing and reading gorgeous, beautifully-crafted, web-standards-based websites.

Comments Require Registration

As an experiment, I've changed the settings on this site to require registration in order to comment. It's quick and painless &emdash; the link is at the bottom of the sidebar on the right.

I've moved the monthly archive list to its own location, linked in the navigation at the top right of the page.

Fuzzhead

I've got a couple of posts in the works but my head has gone all fuzzy. I'm going to go do some house-straightening (I've decided that I cannot use the word house-cleaning to describe any house-work I do because the love of my life seems to always have to follow me, Doing It Right) then I'll come back and try to compose. One of the posts is the first in a series of "sites I read" posts that includes a micro-interview with Rands of Rands in Repose. Stay tuned.

SiteLight: Rands In Repose

So, I thought I'd do a short series on some of the sites I'm subscribed to. The first one I want to mention is Rands In Repose.

Forbes: One-Dimensional Paul Johnson column

Forbes magazine Why Millions Say, Softly, God Bless America, by writer and historian Paul Johnson:

Success!

Once again, |Jodi| beat me to the punch... our dossier was successfully submitted to the National Adoption Center in Kyiv! Thanks to everyone who supported us during this frustrating and trying time! But God came through and we on our way to... more waiting. But this is the waiting we expected, as opposed to the waiting we didn't expect! :-)

Man Peed Way Out Of Avalanche

From my NetNewsWire backlog of flagged posts: Ananova has this hysterical post from a while back &emdash Man peed way out of avalanche:

Coverville! Cover tunes PodCast

Thanks to iPodderX's podcast directory, I discovered Coverville, a show dedicated to playing both indie and RIAA cover tunes. I am all about the cover tunes. w00t!

iPod shuffle ok now

iPod Shuffle Switch

Jodi's iPod shuffle went bork the other day - we had connected it successfully to both her TiBook and my PowerBook and updated her music, but then after a few days it refused to be recognized by either machine. No lights, it didn't show up on the desktop or in iTunes, and System Profiler didn't see it on the USB bus. Wah. Just ot be sure I took some time and ran through the instructions on this Apple Discussions post, to no avail.

Peggy Noonan - The Blogs Must Be Crazy. She makes a ton of good points, for example:

>In newspapers you have to go to the editor, explain to him why the paper should have another piece on the Eason Jordan affair, spend a day reporting it, only to find that all that's new today is that reporter Michelle Malkin got an interview with Barney Frank. That's not enough to merit 10 inches of newspaper space, so the Times doesn't carry what the blogosphere had 24 hours ago. In the old days a lot of interesting information fell off the editing desk in this way. Now it doesn't.

This is an inspiring article. Thanks Seth! (Oh, and Dave too.)

Fighting On Our Knees

|Jodi| just posted a great summary of current events and call to prayer for all of our believing friends and family. Fighting On Our Knees is a look into the arbitrary workings of the Ukrainian bureaucracy, and the seeming randomness affecting our adoption process. Please join us in prayer!

AZ Blogger Bash!

Ok, friends and neighbors, physical and virtual! |Jodi| and I have decided that it's high time we hold another Arizona Blogger get-together here at our abode in good ol' Gilbert. Back on '02, we hosted a similar event, the AZ/NY Blogger BBQ (guests arriving, Taboo!!, Mark's notes, Marks' pictures) .
