Don't Just Stand There, Dance

Ok, I finally got around to combining my love of music, particularly R.E.M., with my love of tinkering, in this case with GarageBand:

Whoa: Drag to subscribe to Podcast in iTunes

Not sure if this is new in iTunes 6, but on whim I tried dragging a link to Merlin's new podcast onto the "Podcasts" group in iTunes. Boom - it subscribed to the podcast and started to download the most recent show. Apple rocks.

Enable At Your Own Risk

Heh. I found this on Dreamhost's Goodies page:

Own Nothing, Have Nothing

I just saw one of the new Napster commercials. Slogan: "Own Nothing, Have Everything". They even do that cliche'd "brain-washing" Outer Limits thing.

Trying to understand

I took a few minutes to google 'deaf blogs' today, trying to find somewhere to help me understand a bit of what my amazing, beautiful, hard-of-hearing soon-to-be-daughter may go through growing up. (If that was a bit hard to follow, sorry - it's the head space I'm in right now.)

More Pics Online

I've just uploaded more pics to our picture gallery on |Jodi|'s site. Check 'em out.

New: Quick Link

Seeing as I can't seem to put together a coherent post recently, and all the interesting information is on |Jodi|'s blog, I added a "Quick Links" section at the top of this page, for those bits and pieces that I find interesting but can't seem to come up with a good "post" for. Oh, and there's a feed too if that's your thing.

Adelina

Well, |Jodi| has the happy news... we've found our (Lord-willing) daughter-to-be!!

Greetings from Kiev

Hi all, from our flat in Kiev, Ukraine! Our flat is right about the middle of this map, on Zhytomers'ka. We're about a 15 min. walk to the main Independence Square downtown.

Mashuptown

I'm a total sucker for song covers. I've suffered this affliction for years, but it's only been since discovering various... *ahem* alternative *ahem*... sources of music #f1">1 that I've been able to fully enjoy my addiction.

T-2 days

Well, I've been pretty quiet lately, especially given the momentous process |Jodi| and I are in the middle of. It's now T-2 days until Jodi and I get on a plane bound for London, then to Kiev, Ukraine, to find and adopt our first child! Remarkably, I'm not stressed too much. If you've not been following along, have a browse through Jodi's Adoption Week-by-week posts to catch up. This has been a crazy year, but we have been surrounded by friends and family who have been simply amazing - the level of emotional, spiritual, and financial support has blown us away. Our child will be brought into an environment that is primed and ready for him/her! God is so good!

War of the Worlds: Extermination

|Jodi| and I went to see Spielberg's new movie, War of the Worlds last night. I wasn't sure what to expect, and had tried to stay away from spoiler sites (which are generally a guilty pleasure of mine). I read the original novel by H. G. Wells in an anthology I got as a kid, and also had heard the Orson Welles 'Mercury Theater on the Air' broadcast on cassette tape as a teen. Speilberg's vision borrows from both, and exudes the hopelessness and desperation that Orson Welles' interpretation captured so brilliantly.

Happy Birthday to me

Today is my 34th birthday. Yay! :-)

Batman Began

Jon, Micah, and I went to see Batman Begins on Wednesday. It was great.

Dual-boot Mac/Intel boxes, cont'd

Jim Roepcke took me to task for my previous comment about dual-booting an Intel-based Mac with Windows. I said:

The New Hello World

I think that blogging apps are the new hello world.

Slightly Less Special: John Siracusa mourns the Power PC

Picking up the pieces: John Siracusa mourns the Power PC:

Say Hello to WebKit!

Oh cool! Apple has open sourced the complete WebKit underpinning the Safari web browser.
