WebObjects and Dreamweaver
Macromedia has an extension for Dreamweaver that lets you create WebObjects templates.
Webobjects-Newbies RSS added
I've switched the news box on the right of this page to suck in the RSS feed of the WebObjects-Newbies mailing list on Yahoo! Groups.
Still the standard
This screenshot of the Ximian Gnome desktop just confirms to me that the Mac interace is STILL the standard. Sure, it's got a 'doze style dock, but can anyone say "mile-high-menubar"? From this article on O'Reilly Net.
Computing Great Circle Distances
Chatting with Andrew Duncan last night we got onto the topic of great circle distances - the shortest distance between two points on the Earth's surface. (A practical application for the shortest distance between two points on the surface of any sphere)
Truly, nothing is sacred.
Sigh. Network Solutions is now selling all the information in the whois database to direct marketers. If you've ever registered a domain name, direct marketers will now be able to target you based on any information you've entered in the registration database, as well as how long your site has been up, if you're doing ecommerce, if your domain is active or not... damn.
Love My Mac
Completely non-scientific study results: I update my weblog more often when I work on my Mac than when on the Windows2K box. Why? The Mac is more comfortable, the browser easier on the eyes. Also, my site was designed on the Mac - in Windows it looks foreign.
O'Reilly and Doubleclick
I just noticed while browsing O'Reilly's P2P site that all their ad links are redirected through DoubleClick's servers. I have my browser set to refuse most cookies, especially DoubleClick's.
Mulle Kybernetik
Ok, I've seen some out-there developer sites, but this is one of the out-est. Mulle Kybernetik (literally "garbage cybernetics") is a "Mac oS X"/Cocoa shop with some cool Mac OS X and WO software.
Cofax.CMS
Cofax.CMS is a content management system written in Java. It's open source, for those who care (of which I'm one), and was developed by (or in cooperation with?) Knight-Ridder publishing. Looks fairly full-featured and extensible.
Welcome André
André Radke of "I-developed-a-lot-of-Frontier's-guts" fame, has joined the "webobjects-newbies" list. Welcome André!!
A goldmine of WOInfo
The WOSource FAQ. Gobs of sample code, posted bits from mailing lists, and if you look carefully you can find some archeological artifacts in there. ;-)
Optimizing WebObjects applications - from WWDC 2000
from-wwdc-2000
Just posted this to the webobjects-newbies list: Google found this GREAT pdf from Apple's WWDC 2000 on Optimizing WebObjects applications, by long time WO developers CodeFab. If you're starting out in WO - go read it. Now.
