Speedy Macs Finally Arrive

Apple is finally shipping the new (drool, drool) G5s. Oooooh, baby!

The World As A Blog

Watch the world blog in real-time... very cool!

SSH-Agent

I've been trying to get ssh-agent running on my os x box so that I can work on a remote linux box without having to type my password everytime, and I'm having a crap time getting it to work, and I have no idea why.

Bloggle

unstaged - credit for finding the cool word goes to Bill, Sandi, and Jodi

Nate's bot

Nate is building a robot out of LEGO and custom-built electronics, and it is amazing. It's radio controlled right now and has a radio transmitting video camera. Check out this video of it in action (12.8 mb Quicktime). Go LEGOMAN!

I don't know why I'm bothering...

Since this will be gone soon I'm sure.

Granting Subsite Admin Permissions in psql

Sometimes we need to grant admin permissions for a subsite to a group or member. Right now the groups admin pages are horked, and you have to do it via psql.

Why do they keep yelling at me?

Good info on how to be a math/systems geek (read Programmer) and not drive your management ballistic and yourself out of a job.

cat5ecableguy.com

This is the place to buy your cat5e ethernet cable. I just bought 75' of cable, two wall plates, and two wall jacks for just over $16. 50' of cat5 at Fry's was $29.99. D'oh!

Birthday Mug

Jodi and I had dinner last night with Bill and Sandi. Bill surprised me with a late birthday present, the Coolest Mug Ever!

New OmniOutlineRenderer coming

A while back I wrote an Applescript that would render an outline from OmniOutliner into html based on user-defined templates.

Nothing's Fair

Life can be so unfair.

Beatallica

I'm not much of a Metallica fan but I'm a huge fan of covers, remixes, and mashups.

Sifry Interview

Chris Lydon's interview with David Sifry of Technorati is pretty cool.

Idealist

Heh. Ptypes' personality test confirms what I already knew - I'm an Idealist.

Tactile Interfaces

James Patten is doing some amazing work at MIT (where else!) on tactile user interfaces (computer interfaces made up of a tabletop that senses the positions of the objects on it's surface) More information and an incredible QuickTime movie here.

Back in AZ

Well, we're back! Tired and a bit jet-lagged, but very happy to be home!

Heading Home

Well, tomorrow ends our 2+ week sojourn in Jacksonville, Florida. We've been helping to care for Jodi's grandmother Becky, who is suffering from cancer. Jodi has done the lion's share of the work - I've tried to support her the best I could.

Missing The Internet

Oh, I miss the internet. "But Steve," you say, "you're on it now!"

Fixing Safari's min font size

from FreeForm Goodness comes the fix for Safari's minimum font size, which changed in Safari 1.0. quoteHidden pref, your ass is mine.
