Dam Mountain Bike...

This weekend Bill and I went mountain biking over to the Cave Creek Dam (1922, present day). It was an awesome ride with diverse terrain, including cross country, hard packed trails, gorges, and the large wash in front of the dam.

Wireless Coffee Rush

Mmmmm, coffee. Wireless coffee. Jodi and I are hanging at the Coffee Rush, a local coffee shop with free wireless internet access. Yummy!

Wanted: One default .tcshrc file from an OS X installation

Yeah, yeah, the real unix admins make backups of any file they're going to delete. And if they're just testing, they don't actually delete the file, they just move it or rename it. I, on the other hand, am still waking up and got a tad enthusiastic.

I've been trying to diversify my NetNewsWire habits. Recently added:

Truth In Advertising

"In other words," said Wil Shipley, President of The Omni Group, "it'sone of those releases that's got plenty of cool stuff, absolutely none of which makes for good press release copy. But you should stilldownload it, because it makes things better in a multitude of small ways." OmniOutliner 2.2.1 is out.

Piles demo

rdiv_start" border="0"> Richard Das created a sweet Flash demo of what Apple's patented "Piles" concept could look like. Check it out, it's rumored to be a part of Panther, the codename for the next version of Mac OS X.

This here is my comic. Is it not nifty? Worship the Comic.

Oh, crap. He finally got me to check this out. Before, I only had to whine when this wasn't updated. Now I can jones for Sluggy Freelance, too.

Macromedia.com

I know it's old hat by now for many, but I really like the new Macromedia.com website. It uses Flash in a good way, IMO. It's intereesting, integrated, but I don't feel like I'm forced to use it to get around the site. Tasteful.

Command Post redesign

Nice. The Command Post got itself a spiffy new design.

Proposals.

I'm spending the day writing a proposal for a potential client, for some corporate identity/print/web work. It will be a good project if I can make the proposal attractive enough (financially, and without screwing myself). I absolutely hate writing proposals. I suck at it, it's hard work, but it's absolutely necessary.

Microsoft gets Scobleized

Well, most everyone knows by now, Scoble's headed to Redmond to become an Evangelist for the next version of Windows. I have mixed feelings about this - I've gotten a chance to chat with Robert a lot recently, and I have a feeling that's going to change (because he's going to be even busier and because he's now under the Mother-Of-All-Non-Disclosure-Agreements). So I'm a bit sad about that.

Safari Beta 2 released, becomes default browser of monkinetic weblog

April 14, 2003, Gilbert, AZ: Apple released the second beta today of its new Safari web browser, bringing on new features and a "proper" implementation of tabs.

Pampered Guys Nite

Last night I hosted an all-guys Pampered Chef party in my home. Pampered Chef makes the very coolest kitchen utensils, gadgets, pots, pans, etc... A good friend of ours just became a consultant, and so we offered to host a party.

What if we give it away?

While looking for the previous link to the lyrics for Welcome To The Occupation, I found out that Murmurs.com started a peer-to-peer network called "give it away" for trading live and unreleased R.E.M. tracks. Evidently they've run this by the band, since the band also gave them permission to include B-Sides from the various singles as well as fan-club-only releases.

Mad and Educated, Primitive and Wild

Hm. The first song in my "R.E.M. Revealed" playlist (random songs from my extensive R.E.M. collection) this morning: "Welcome to the Occupation".

Hang your collar up inside
Hang your dollar on me
Listen to the water still
Listen to the causeway
You are mad and educated
Primitive and wild
Welcome to the occupation

"I See Naked People" Episode II: "Can we see them?"

hehe. This post is consistently one of my top Google referrers. A reply, posted today, gives a clue why... smile

bbum on PyCS for now

Bill Bumgarner has, for now, gotten himself switched over to publishing his Radio weblog to PyCS.
