Yes, Clark got hisself a brand new toy. Boy am I jealous. No, I don't have a purpose for it. No, I never used the one I have (a 120) enough. No, I could not afford it, even at the low price he paid for it.

Getting the religion
Looks like Microsoft and the PC vendors are getting the Newton religion. Right on. Too bad Apple doesn't.
Apple's been Scobleized
Scoble: > Well, I've had some sneaks behind the scenes (not official ones, though). Apple has some cool stuff coming this year to be sure -- including some desktop machines that are outperforming current Intel stuff.
Transcript of Colin Powell's UN Iraq Roast?
In reponse to this post by Robert Scoble, I've been Googling for a transcript of Colin Powell's remarks to the UN on Feb. 5. Anyone find them yet?
David Hyatt on Gecko (Mirrored)
jmtee has a blog entry where he mirrors some of David Hyatt's (Safari team member) comments regarding why Apple went with KHTML over the Gecko rendering engine. David has since taken down his post, so there's some question as to why, but the stuff jmtee mirrored is insightful.
Gonna Do It Again
Ok, so we rearranged our office and today realized that we did it backwards. Silly us! Don't you hate that?
Craigslist.org
Following a megnut link about a job listing Meg posted to Craig's List, I found that the Craig's List site is really cool. It seems to be a site that allows the creation of online communities - there's a big one for New York, one for Phoenix, etc. I think I'm going to add this site to my collection of places to look for jobs. I noticed that the few postings I looked at were written in a person's voice - not the Recruiter-droid&trademark lingo you hear on most other job sites.
Blogpalm
Jeneane Sessum is looking for a palmtop device that is designed for blogging. In the comments, someone suggests Danger's HipTop (sold by T-Mobile as the SideKick).
Web Outliners
I composed my R.E.M. and Jesus Christ post in OmniOutliner (for which I still need to get a license - outlines of < 20 lines are useless) and it reminded me once again of my love of writing in an outliner. I really would like to have a "compose-in-outline" mode in Sid one day.
Fire!
(from MacNetJournal) The open-source chat client Fire has been updated to support more AIM features (fire transfers, .mac support, direct chat connections, etc). If iChat is too cutesy for you, check it out.
Imagination
David McCusker gave me a plug yesterday:
And folks need to go visit Steve Ivy's resume and consider giving him some work. He's a bright guy with enough imagination that I figure you can give him new stuff to do without worry. (link) I usually hate to blow my own horn, but I am a bright guy, I've got a lot of experience, and I've got the imagination to know how it can be used. If you need web development or Mac OS X programming work done, please contact me.
More on Linksys/FTP problem
It would seem I'm not mistaken in my reports of problems with active FTP and my Linksys BEFW11S4 router. > Several people report the latest BEFW11S4 firmware is broken for Active mode. Here's a recent post: /forum/remark,411550.. (link)
McCusker on OS X
Dave McCusker got himself a shiny new TiBook a little bit ago, and is learning the pleasures of Mac OS X. I love seeing someone "get it" (no matter what they're "getting"). What a cool thing.
Genius Bar (or "Weblogger in a fedora")
David McCusker had a crappy experience with the "Geniuses" at this local Apple Store's Genius Bar.
Dave's in the Hospital
Here's wishing the best to Dave, who is in the hospital, and will remain there through this week.
Amp it up
AmphetaDesk continues to draw rave reviews, not least because its creator pays attention to his product's users, and is eager to listen to valid criticism if it will make the product better/faster/stronger, i.e., more useful.
Forgiveness
AKMA blogs Forgiveness, in a deep and touching way:
Forgiving wrongs requires us to take them utterly seriously as injuries to one another and to the relationships of which we form a part. And: I tell myself, "It doesn't matter"--but I am not the one who may make that discernment. I'm not in a position to know how badly Margaret wanted pepper on her eggs, nor even of whether she ought to have wanted pepper that much. David Weinberger follows up with: My religion, Judaism, ... puts particular stress on making whole what one has ruptured through one's bad behavior. Yes, you resolve not to do it again, and yes, you don't let that behavior rend the fabric of the relationship. But you also run out to the store immediately and buy Margaret some more damn pepper. As a married man (going on 4 years now) I find that these lessons are the most valuable, and the hardest to face, and the hardest to learn. Part of marriage to me is letting go of "I want"; every day, every hour, loving the other person more than yourself. You can do this (theoretically) because the other person is doing the same. Of course, we are none of us perfect, which brings us to the essential necessity of forgiveness.
