Command-Post.org: aggregate war information blog
Bill sent me a link to Command-Post.org, where they're aggregating blog posts on the war in Iraq. Lots of information there.
Dave Keynotes OSCOM?
Dave is doing a keynote at the Open Source Content Management conference (OSCOM) in Cambridge.
Writing
I've added a list of essays I've written on this site on thee right-hand side below the channel list, under "My Writings". Maybe someone will find it interesting.
Steve the Sys Admin?
I recently gave a friend a resume to pass along for a linux sys admin position. It was a strange experience, thinking of myself as a systems administrator. But as I went through to tweak my resumee for the position, I realized that I've done quite a bit of it over the years (as any web developer must).
NBC NBC Fires Fires Arnett Arnett
I think someone was in way too much of a rush to get this story online. The entire text of the story (it's not long) is included twice!
Persianblog.com
I love looking at this blog, written in right-to-left persian script. I love that OS X renders it perfectly.
Sgannt
Big surprise, I hacked on mygannt.py some more this weekend, and it's now called sgannt.py. Ostensibly for Simple Gannt (though it's not so simple anymore) but more because it sounds cool to pronounce it "scant". -)
Lawn Care Company
Spec Web Site Design: Design for a local lawn care company. The company has no site currently. In my design I tried to develop a look that was professional yet friendly.
Speaks Her Mind
Jodi has been posting more and more lately to her site. She's becoming quite the blogger. I knew it was inevitable when I heard her say the other day, with 5 minutes before walking out the door to work: "I need to go post to my website..."
Progress Report III
Finally! It's working, and I get to have a weekend! (I don't know if I could have stopped if I hadn't fixed this thing...) But seriously, I am so glad to have this script working. I really hate that admin-type stuff you have to do to get work - writing proposals, doing project plans, timelines, etc... This is going to save me a not-insubstantial amount of time, I'm hoping.
Progress Report II
Whew. You know how you sit there, looking at your working code, thinking "I'm so glad it works. It works really well! But... it could be better... I wonder if instead of a bitmap I could get *resolution independent* ouput?"
Progess Report
Well, mygannt is coming along nicely. I'm trying not to obsess about it, but... well, if you're a geek you understand. (Must... add... feature...)
PIL 1.1.4, FreeType2 lib, OS X
If anyone out there has gotten the 1.1.4 version of the python imaging library working with freetype2 on Mac OS X, I'd really love to know how!! (PIL fonts - bitmaps converted from X Windows BDF descriptions - suck. FreeType2 allows use of anti-aliased TrueType fonts.)
MyGantt python tool
Being a freelance web designer and developer, I need to be able to show clients, in a simple yet informative fashion, how their project is going to play out, and what is going to be happening during any phase of the project.
