A Mac in your Rack

Apple is scheduled to announce new rackmount servers today. I've been around the Mac world long enough to be pretty cynical about this, but here's what I'd like to see:

  • 4-way processors: They've been talking about it long enough - let's see that multiprocessor OS finally take advantage of 4-way G4s
  • 1Ghz+ G4s: I can dream...
  • 2Gb+ memory capacity
  • Hot-swappable drives
  • Cost: ~$6k

  • Sid2 ToDo

  • Sort history by clicking on column headers
  • Fix service
  • Implement rssItemPBoardType

  • Test Post

    Please ignore

    Working on Sid2

If this shows up on the weblog, then progress is coming along nicely on Sid2, a native Objective-C version of Sid.

Suspect with potential connection to Sept. 11 arrested in Norfolk, Va.

    AP: Suspect Had Flight Manuals

A suspect in an alleged scheme to obtain fraudulent student visas had flight manuals, a drawing of a plane striking one of the World Trade Center towers and a date book with a lone entry: Sept. 11, according to court documents. Norfolk, Va, is one of the 5 cities in my home town area of Hampton Roads. Wow. Very scary.

    Cocoa Programming book

After complaining that I could not afford to buy Aaron Hillegass's Cocoa programming book, I got smart today and checked out the Phoenix Public Library website.

UserLand opens up RSS generation in Radio

    Dave writes:

"Yesterday we released a change to this core routine that allows the user to completely replace writeRssFile in an update-safe way." Maybe we'll begin to see Radio users providing RSS 1.0-compatible feeds now.

    My Cats Stink

How can something so overpoweringly foul come from our two terribly cute and cuddly felines?

    Launchbar Rules

If you use Mac OS X, you simply must get Launchbar, from Objective Devlopment. I'll not rant more now, just get over to Objective Development and get it. $19.95, and the best shareware you'll buy. Do it simple, do it right.

    South Mountain

It's late, but I wanted to mention that our pics from Monday's trip to South Mountain are up.

    Sedona, May 2002

My parents, Jodi, and I went north to Sedona yesterday. We hiked up to Cathedral Rock, a breathtakingly beautiful formation with a view for miles and miles. It was about a .7 mile hike, with a rise of about 600 feet.

    weblogs.com decentralization

weblogs.com is "having a spaz attack" (as anita says), and we in the blogging community are feeling the pain of centralization. Heck, I'm wandering the 'net aimlessly without my Blogtracker panel (fed by weblogs.com).
