Hello From Macworld SF!

Yes, I'm posting this from MacWorld San Fransisco, specifically from the AppleCare/ Apple iServices booth. I think the internte cafe would be more appropriate, but it was full. ;-)

Stepwise BoF details

New information, courtesy of X Appeal:

Easy As A Mac

Very funny spec commercial. (Quicktime)

I Can't StopThinking!

Micropayments discussed by someone who can benefit.

Desktop Websites

A discussion on the virtues of the Desktop Website has begun over at Brian Carnell's site.

Cast Away

I thought the title for this movie was "Castaway" - noun form... I was glad to see that the correct title is the two-word past-tense verb form, it gives a much dfferent feel. (Am I a freak for noticing the grammatical forms of movie titles?)

BigShow - XML-based PowerPoint replacement

Aaron Hillegrass, WebObjects Yoda-type, has written a presentation program called BigShow that uses XML as the file format. Mmmm, XML.

WebStar V + Mac OS X

4D's WebStar, affectionately known in Mac server circlas as Web*, is coming to "Mac OS X". Right on - WebStar is a bulwark of the Mac community, has been serving pages from Macs for many years, and has a rich history and rich plugin API. This will be a great addition to the Mac OS X software catalog. Way to go 4D.

Atimi - Mac Software, on time

Thanks to "Jim" for the pointer to Atimi, and new Mac development shop. It looks like they offer outsourcing services for other dev shops, and porting services for existing Windows apps. Hope this helps bring more great software to the Mac!

Another big monitor: NEC PlasmaSync 50MP1

NEC ships a 50" Plasma Flat-Panel display. Mmmmm, sounds fun.

Apple to bump processor speeds for new Power Macs

CNet: Looks like Apple is going to be bumping the speeds on their PowerMacs, perhaps to the 733Mhz range. Mmmm, Mhz.

Watch for MWSF Photo Album

The MacWorld Expo folks are going to have a photo album for the show, starting Jan. 10. Maybe you'll see me?

Finding Forrester

Preview for Finding Forrester, with Sir Sean Connery. Looks really, really good. Will have to catch this one I think.

Frontier/Manila developers: Userland returns to .wsf

In Userland's latest screenshot of MyUserland On The Desktop (isn't this a bit of an awkward name?), I noticed that Userland is once again using .wsf... Anyone have and idea why? The Website Framework extension went out of vogue at Userland and in the community about two years ago, as Manila development progressed (Manila enveloped and superceded the website framework). I'd be interested in why it's making a comeback.
