Last night I had a real breakthrough in my study of WebObjects. Unfortunately, I don't have the WO 4.01 databases, so I haven't been able to do some of the exercises in the Programming WebObjects course I'm doing. Instead, I downloaded FrontBase and installed it, created my own model, and completed the exercise.

From the CMS LIst: This article by one of Digital Creations' staff highlights some of the common types of portal sites and their content management needs. Focused on Zope's CMF, but can easily be abstracted on-the-fly to CMSes in general.

I've added a CMS category to the weblog here. Shortly I'll go back and change all the CMS-related entries to the right label.

Chatting with Andrew Duncan last night we got onto the topic of great circle distances - the shortest distance between two points on the Earth's surface. (A practical application for the shortest distance between two points on the surface of any sphere)

Sigh. Network Solutions is now selling all the information in the whois database to direct marketers. If you've ever registered a domain name, direct marketers will now be able to target you based on any information you've entered in the registration database, as well as how long your site has been up, if you're doing ecommerce, if your domain is active or not... damn.
