IA Slash

ia/ has an information architecture weblog, the source of some good links lately. I want to follow up on this one, on taxonomies, soon.

Hehe. I've got the #2 link on Google for "obj-c xml-rpc", and the first one that actually is about the Objective-C language. Coooool.

Stupid Soup

"I blame the soup".

F-Script

I saw O'Reilly's articles on F-Script a while back (1, 2), but had not had time to download and poke around with it. It's pretty sweet, andd the object browser is an incredible means of learning the Cocoa APIs. Wow. Have to work with it more now.

NewsFlash: H2 updating

My buddy Hans has a case of blogger's guilt, and has started updating again. Yay!

I'm looking for solution to a particular problem. I have source audio material on cassette tape. Assuming I have a machine with audio inputs, what sort of software (preferably free, or cheap) should I be looking for to:

  • rip the audio in realtime from the sound card to disk,
  • cut the file (it&[#39](http://monkinetic.blog/tag/39);s lecture-style) into manageable portions, and
  • convert the files from (I assume) AIFF to MP3.

Solutions can be Mac or PC, as I don&[#39](http://monkinetic.blog/tag/39);t yet know where I&[#39](http://monkinetic.blog/tag/39);m going to be doing this. If you have ideas or pointers, please post them, and if there are any particularly good ones I&[#39](http://monkinetic.blog/tag/39);ll point to them here.

  • The shape of sunflowers to come

Cool article about the design of the new iMac: an interview with Jonathan Ive, Apple's hardware guru and lead designer.

    Tom's Hardware on LCDs

Must get back to this: Tom's Hardware reviews a bunch of LCD monitors. As one who's home CRT is threatening self-destruction, I need to check this out.

Aw, I wanted to be Bono

    Adam

You know who you are, both the good and the bad, and you know how to have fun... unfortunately, that sometimes gets you into trouble.

  • What path will you take?

An anonymous buddy: "i'll take the path that leads to the possibility that i won't have to make a decision". To know him is to know why this is funny. And sad.

    OSXFaq.com

Mac legend Bob Levitus is senior editor of a new Mac OS X site, OS X Faq. This is definitely going in my bookmarks.

  • In which Michael Sippey discovers the BSD goodness of Mac OS X

Micheal Sippey, iPhoto, and the command line.

Between a rock and a soft place

Jodi and I found a cool rock gym about 10 minuted from our house - it's also easy to get to from work so on my way home this evening I stopped by and bouldered for an hour or so. Oy! My poor noodle-soft arms! I am NOT in shape, and since Arizona has some of the best climbing in the US, I figured I better get back into shape.

    Cocoa programming For OS X

Since Jim is taking the awesome Cocoa class at Big Nerd Ranch SF, and I can't (Waaahhh), I want Aaron's book instead.

    Media site

I've started using Radio Userland again recently, and have found that its upstreaming-via-ftp feature is a great way to get file and images onto my static server. That site is now media central for this site.

    A Sort Of Homecoming

Song of the day: A Sort Of Homecoming.

    Radio Userland, Tools

Just thought I'd point out that Radio Userland ships soon, and along with it a new era in Frontier-based scripting for those who do not need Frontier as a server platform. Right now I'm developing a Tool that runs unit tests on our internal XML-RPC server. Sweet!
