I've been having some fun with Flash lately - witness the new header on this site. :-) It's not perfect, I haven't figured out the font embedding correctly, so the quotes seem to appear in some default (Times?) font on any machine but my own. Grr. Still working on it.

I got some pushback from folks I trust, or at least like, and decided the flash header needed more work before it was ready for prime time.

This morning a coworker was commenting on how cool it was that Dojo includes functionality that will compress their JavaScript library by converting all human-readable javascript to short identifiers made up of underscores and numbers or letters ("_a","_1", etc). Compression births obfuscation.

You know, I've worked in all kinds of environments doing web development, and Flash is making me crazy. I've been bangning my head on this thing for a day now, and it's just leaving me hot under the collar. Grr.

After Merlin posted about this cool little get-simple wallet, I had to have one. My old leather hip-brick is beginning to cause chiropractic problems, and I'm all about getting simple these days.

Though I'm generally a geek, I work in publishing, so I've started paying more attention to some academic and writing-related blog posts that have come cross my radar.

After A's IEP meeting today, we had the opportunity to use one of my personal favorite terms, high-up mucky-muck. Mike McCracken shares some tips on how he uses VoodooPad to manage his life. I love VoodooPad, and have a huge document that I use to track a multitude of projects, applications, resources, and notes; it's especially useful for work.

I'd say someone had waaaaayyyyy to much time on their hands, but really I just have fantasies of being the guy who built this aircraft carrier out of LEGO. (Via Bill).

I couldn't resist - the headline used in the local paper was too good. The aircraft carrier Oriskany, veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and base of operations for Senator John McCain while he was a Navy pilot, is being sunk off the coast of Florida to create the largest man-made reef to date. I'll bet that's going to be a wild sight.
