@pixel Oh, I've also wished that a shortcut could do text-to-speech without "your shortcut says... 'thing'"

@pixel yeah, I've tried it with scripted timers which sort of works, but (inexplicably) there's no "send notification" script action.

@vvuksan out with friends at dinner

BEEP BEEP... BEEP BEEP

"Sorry, excuse me, my pager went off. Kids left the back door cracked again"

@vvuksan Great, now my #smarthome is going to have me on call 24-7 #opslife

Current most frustrating #smarthome problem: I've been testing a door sensor (Elgato Eve) and cannot find a solution to "notify me if this door left open for x seconds". HomeKit doesn't quite support the automation, and the sensors are too simple to track time-open themselves.

Got myself a couple of Wemo outlets as an early Christmas present; now looking for property to mortgage so I can replace every electrical item in the house #smarthomedumbowner

I forgot about "Pie for Breakfast Day", so instead I'm celebrating " Forgot I could eat it today so I ate it all yesterday and now I have a pie hangover" day https://t.co/4zx0HI6Vs0

At the same time, I'm nearly 50 with a family of teens and God I'm feeling old when I look around the virtual office these days.

I've never been interested in management, but I enjoy mentoring. I'm not the deepest engineer (thanks, B.A. in Graphic Design) but prefer engineering to, well, not, and am always trying to grow my experience.

Working for a large enterprise has its up and downs. Multiple changes in management lately have left me trying to figure out my trajectory.

you know what would make my timeline amazing? A "turn of retweets for e'r'buddy" setting #noretweet #noboost(#mastodon has it why don't you)

I've worked in Agile-ish environments before but the book was suddenly relevant after working in a really large enterprise for a few years.

So a while back I finally got around to reading "The Phoenix Project", the novelized description of a large IT project and leadership's growth in understanding and implementing LEAN principles.

Gene Kim, one of the authors, is about to release a new book - "The Unicorn Project" - set in the same universe (ha!), that explores DevOps principles and impact in the same way. So looking forward to this!
